CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT. We may have collected any of the following categories of personal information from You within the past twelve (12) months:

Audio/Visual Data. This category includes electronic recordings, such as phone call recordings, and data collected through access to phone cameras for scanning and inputting transaction details.

Inference Data. This is personal information drawn using the above-described personal information to create a profile reflecting our customers’ preferences.

Sensitive Data. SafeAlarm does not collect any sensitive personal information from You.

This is personal information you choose to provide in connection with signing up to our customer or promotion list such as your name, phone number, address, email, providing content on the Website such as a review, or other activities in which you participate on the Website.

Improve SafeAlarm. SafeAlarm continuously seeks to improve its customer experience and optimize its Website. To do so, we conduct research to understand the effectiveness of our offerings, improve our offerings, and to better understand the SafeAlarm community. If we publish the results of our research to others, such research will be presented in a de-identified and aggregate form such that individual users cannot be identified.

Promotional Communications. If you no longer wish to receive text messages, reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any mobile message from SafeAlarm.

Marketing/Performance Analysis & Data Analytics. We will use your information to help us better understand your interests and needs, such as by engaging in analysis and research regarding use of the Website. We may use your information to measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising and content we serve to you and others, and to deliver and customize relevant advertising and content to you. For example, we may generate analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Website, and to evaluate the success of any marketing and advertising campaigns we pursue. Security Activity. We will use your information to protect SafeAlarm, its partners, its users, and non-users against activity that breaches our security including fraudulent activity or acts that SafeAlarm believes to be in breach of applicable laws, rules, and codes or of its policies.

Combined Information. For the purposes discussed in this Privacy Policy, we may combine the information that we collect through the Website with information that we receive from other sources, both online and offline, and use and share such combined information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

SafeAlarm does not create user profiles that are in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning a consumer.

Aggregate/De-Identified Data. We may aggregate and/or de-identify any information collected through the Website so that such information can no longer be linked to you or your device (“Aggregate/De-Identified Information”). We may use Aggregate/De-Identified Information for any purpose, including for research and marketing purposes, and may also share such data with any third parties, including advertisers, promotional partners, and sponsors.

RETENTION PERIOD. SafeAlarm shall only store personal information for as long as it is required. This is determined by considering the purposes for which it was obtained in accordance with applicable laws. Our retention period is based on (1) the nature of our relationship with the data subject and (2) any legal obligations we are bound to fulfill.

HOW WE USE COOKIES. The Website may use cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technology, depending on the features offered. Tracking technology is useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the Website, and understanding how visitors use the Website. Cookies can also help us customize the Website and improve your experience.

This allows SafeAlarm and our third-party service providers to track certain websites you visit. Web beacons are used to track online behavioral habits for marketing purposes to determine products or services you may be interested in. In addition to using web beacons on web pages, we also use web beacons in email messages sent to individuals listed in SafeAlarm’s database.

Other Tools. SafeAlarm may also use a web server log or an SDK. A webserver log is a file where website activity is stored. An SDK is a set of tools and/or code that we embed in our software to allow third parties to collect information about how people interact with our Website. As we continue to develop the Website, SafeAlarm may implement additional methods to gather information about the SafeAlarm community.

If you previously provided personally identifiable information to us, a unique identifier in the cookie may tie the information collected via the cookie to such information. Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a privacy preference that users can set to have their Internet browser automatically send a signal to our online and mobile resources to request we not track browsing activity across different sites. There is, however, currently no universal standard for sending and receiving DNT signals. As such, we cannot promise that we respond to all DNT signals, but do recognize and respond when required by applicable privacy laws, such as when HTTP header fields or Java objects are used. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM THIRD PARTIES SUCH AS SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER CONTENT PLATFORMS. SafeAlarm maintains a presence on a variety of social media platforms. When you “like” or “follow” us on Instagram, YouTube, or other social media platforms, we may collect some information about you. We may also receive information about you from third party companies such as data analytics providers and data brokers. This information includes your name, email address, and any comments or content you post that is relevant to SafeAlarm. We also collect your information if you sign up for a promotion and submit information to us through one of our social media accounts.

HOW WE DISCLOSE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. Over the past twelve months, SafeAlarm has disclosed the data categories described within this Privacy Policy to the following categories of third parties:

Corporate Affiliates and Franchisees. We may share personal information with our corporate affiliates, corporate parents and franchisees who will use such information in the same way as we can under this statement.

Law Enforcement or Government. We may disclose personal information to government agencies and authorities, and to other third parties when compelled to do so by such government authorities, or at our discretion or otherwise as required or permitted by law, including responding to court orders and subpoenas.

Successors for Business Sale/Purchase. If we, or any of our affiliates, sell or transfer all or substantially all of our assets, equity interests or securities, or are acquired by one or more third parties as a result of an acquisition, merger, sale, reorganization, divestiture, consolidation, or liquidation, personal information may be one of the transferred assets.

Marketing Support Vendors. We may need to disclose certain of your personal information to vendors who we have engaged for technology and services that support our marketing efforts this includes ad-tech partners and social media websites.

HOW WE SELL OR SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. SafeAlarm does not sell your data in exchange for monetary consideration or value. In order to support tailored advertisements, offers, or content that you may find interesting when you browse the internet, SafeAlarm shares or facilitates the transfer of certain personal information with our trusted third party partners that support online advertising, data co-operatives, mobile advertising, data analytics, social media engagement, data brokers advertising networks or any other activity that may be considered cross-contextual behavioral advertising. This transfer could be defined as a sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.

In support of the activities listed above, over the past twelve months, SafeAlarm has shared the following categories of personal information: (i) general identifiers, (ii) internet activity data, (iii) characteristics, and (iv) commercial information. SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION. We have adopted, implemented and maintained an enterprise-wide corporate information security and privacy program that includes technical, organizational, administrative, and other security measures designed to protect, as required by applicable law, against reasonably anticipated or actual threats to the security of your personal information (the “Security Program”). Our Security Program was created by reference to widely recognized industry standards. It includes, among many other things, procedures for assessing the need for, and as appropriate, either employing encryption and multi-factor authentication or using equivalent compensating controls. We therefore have every reason to believe our Security Program is reasonable and appropriate for our business and the nature of foreseeable risks to the personal information we collect. We further periodically review and update our Security Program, including as required by applicable law.

POLICY FOR CHILDREN. We do not use the Website to solicit information from or market to children under the age of 18. By using the Website, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s internet usage and to instruct their children never to provide personal information through the Website or any other website without parental consent. LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES AND THIRD PARTY PRACTICES. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, share, store and protect information that you provide to us. Sometimes, SafeAlarm teams up with other companies to better serve you. The Website may have a link to another company's website such as where you may be able to buy our products. Those companies may have privacy policies that are different from this Privacy Policy. SafeAlarm is not responsible for the actions of those websites whose links are accessible through the Website or any actions of third parties that are not under SafeAlarm’s exclusive control.

SUBMITTING INFORMATION FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. We control and operate the online and mobile resources from within the United States of America (the “U.S.”). Information collected through the Website may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which our vendors or we maintain facilities. Although we do not actively block or monitor visitors from other countries, the Website is directed only at visitors from the U.S. As such, this Privacy Policy is consistent with U.S. law and practice and is not adapted to other laws (including European data security and privacy laws). SafeAlarm will apply the applicable laws of the U.S., including as embodied in this Privacy Policy in place of data protections under your home country’s law. That is, you freely and unambiguously acknowledge that this Privacy Policy, not your home country’s laws, controls how we will collect, store, process, and transfer your personal information. Similarly, the English language version of this Privacy Policy is the controlling version regardless of any translation you may attempt.

EXERCISE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS. SafeAlarm takes privacy seriously. Where applicable, data subjects have certain rights they can request for SafeAlarm to fulfill. These requests can be made by either the data subject or an authorized agent. These rights include:

  2. The Right to Amend. You have the right to correct any information that SafeAlarm stores about you;
  3. The Right to Opt Out Of Targeted Advertising. You have the right to opt-out of receiving targeted advertisements as well as having a consumer behavioral profiles built about you;
  4. The Right to Delete. You have the right to request that SafeAlarm delete information that it maintains about you, subject to certain exceptions; and
  5. The Right to Opt Out Of Your Personal Information Being Sold or Shared. SafeAlarm does not sell your information.

Exercising your rights under this section will not result in any discrimination by SafeAlarm. We will treat you the same as any other user. If you disagree or dispute a decision that has been made on the scope or application of the rights described in this clause, you may appeal this decision by contacting support@thesafealarm.com.

We will respond to your request to exercise any of the above rights in writing (including via email), or orally if requested, as soon as practicable and in any event not more than within one month after receipt of your request. In exceptional cases, we may extend this period by up to two months and we will tell you why.
